Penny Cameron truly embodies the spirit of lifelong learning. For the past 35 years, she has turned to Waubonsee Community College for personal and professional enrichment.

Whether it was by taking real estate courses to guide her career in the construction industry, learning computer skills to assist her work as a member of the Kane County Board, or attending classes on history and current events, she has benefited from the learning opportunities provided by her local community college.

Cameron has also shown her commitment to continuing education through her volunteer service. She is president of Waubonsee's foundation and has endowed a scholarship for students seeking elementary education transfer degrees.

"I love the opportunity Waubonsee affords me to learn just for the sake of learning," she says. "I never had the time in college to study such a range of topics. To be a better person in the community, I believe you have to continue to learn."
