ICCTA Outstanding Faculty Member AwardDanville Area Community College Biology instructor John Hoagland has devoted his life to learning and teaching science. For more than 34 years, he has motivated his students to expand their horizons and explore all facets of a course, used a hands-on approach, and made sure students experience real science. Outside class, he furthers students’ learning through weekend field trips, individual tutorials, and special help. An ethically strong and positive role model, Hoagland mentors new faculty and students. John Hoagland is the 2003 recipient of ICCTA's Outstanding Faculty Member Award. Hoagland founded the Illinois Association of Community College Biologists and is active in the Illinois Education Association.
